Useful information for our guests
We know many of you will be traveling from far away, especially from Colombia, Brazil, United States and other parts of the world, and we can't thank you enough for joining us!
We look forward to your visit. So, here's a clear and practical guide to make your trip to Sicily as easy and enjoyable as possible.

How to get to Sicily, Italy
✈️ Main airports to reach Sicily
Sicily has two main international airports :
Palermo Airport (Falcone-Borsellino - PMO)
It is the closest airport to Cefalù (about 100 km / 1 hour and 15 minutes ).
Our top recommendation : ideal for those looking for the most direct option.
There are flights from Rome, Milan, and several European cities such as Madrid, Paris, Lisbon, London, Frankfurt, and Barcelona, among many others.
Catania Airport (Fontanarossa - CTA)
It is in eastern Sicily, but it is further from the location, about 2 hours and 45 minutes by car or train.
It also has good connections to European cities and can be an option if flights to Palermo are limited or cheaper.
✈️ 🇺🇸 Traveling to Sicily from the U.S.
There are no direct flights from the U.S. to Sicily, but it's easy to get there with a stopover in Europe. Most international flights arrive in Palermo (PMO) or Catania (CTA) — both well connected to European hubs.
Here are the most common routes from major U.S. cities:
🇺🇸 Miami (MIA)
Miami → Madrid / Rome / Paris / Milan / Zurich / London → Palermo / Catania (Major airlines: Iberia, ITA Airways, Air France, Swiss, British Airways)
Miami → Istanbul → Palermo / Catania(Via Turkish Airlines – convenient and well-rated)
🇺🇸 New York (JFK or EWR)
New York → Rome / Milan / Zurich / Frankfurt / Paris / Madrid → Palermo / Catania (Frequent flights with ITA Airways, Lufthansa, Swiss, Air France, Iberia)
New York → Istanbul → Palermo / Catania(Turkish Airlines offers daily options)
🇺🇸 Los Angeles (LAX)
L.A. → Rome / Paris / Frankfurt / Zurich / Madrid / Milan → Palermo / Catania(Longer travel time, but many good one-stop options with major European carriers)
L.A. → Istanbul → Palermo / Catania(Great connection via Turkish Airlines)
🇺🇸 Atlanta (ATL)
Atlanta → Paris / Rome / Amsterdam / Frankfurt → Palermo / Catania ( Delta and partner airlines like Air France, KLM, and ITA offer reliable routes)
Atlanta → Istanbul → Sicily(Turkish Airlines also serves Atlanta)
🇺🇸 Palm Beach (PBI)
No direct transatlantic flights from PBI, but easy connections via:
PBI → Miami / JFK / ATL → Europe → Sicily (Most travelers connect through nearby major hubs, then continue as listed above)
✈️ Pro tip: Once in Europe, consider flying with regional airlines like ITA Airways, Ryanair, Vueling, or easyJet for the final leg to Palermo or Catania.
💡 Tip: Many guests have chosen to fly to Rome or Milan first, spend a night there, and then take a short flight to Sicily (approximately 1h30). It's a great excuse to see another Italian city along the way!
Must-see cities in Italy: Rome, Venice, Florence, the Amalfi Coast (Positano, Capri, Sorrento), Milan.
🚆 How to get to Cefalù from the airport?
From Palermo (recommended):
🚘 By car : Rent a car at the airport and drive to Cefalù (1h15). The road is very good and easy.
🚆 By train : From Palermo Central Station, take a direct train to Cefalù (1 hour). There are several daily schedules.
🚖 By taxi or private transfer : easy to book, especially for groups or those who prefer more comfort.
From Catania:
🚘 By car: about 2h45 to Cefalù.
🚆 By train: a connection in Messina or Palermo is required (approx. 3–4 hours).
Only recommended if you find a much cheaper flight or if you plan to explore eastern Sicily.
🏖️ Why did we choose Cefalù?
Although Lanza Branciforte Castle is located in the town of Trabia, after exploring the area, we decided to make Cefalù our official meeting point for all guests. It's a charming coastal town with a beach, history, and great food—the perfect place to start this experience! Plus:
🚌 Buses organized by us will depart from Cefalù to the castle on the wedding day.
📍 Therefore, we recommend staying there for your convenience and to share time with other guests. However, we will also provide recommendations for those who prefer to stay in Trabia.
